MICAHU & THE SHAPES
THE INVISIBLE

Matthew Herbert’s Accidental is home to several labels, including Soundslike, Lifelike and Accidental proper.
Showcasing innovation and musicianship in an unparalleled manner, Accidental has had the pleasure of releasing records by artists such as Mugsion, Mara Carlyle and Matthew himself, under his different aliases.

Karen P cut her teeth as an intern at Radio 1 before becoming the youngest ever producer at the station producing Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide show.
Since she launched her eponymous production company, Karen quickly established herself as a global authority on Podcasts and post-broadcast audio, setting up groundbreaking projects and platforms like Red Bull Music Academy Radio.

Described by Straight no Chaser magazine as being "the blazing definition of a seriously heavy player" Finn Peters is one of the leading flute and sax players in the UK today. A musician born and bred, he has dedicated his life to perfecting his art and in 1999 his achievements were recognised when he won the London Young Jazz musician award.

Micachu is the moniker of major new talent, 21 year old songwriter and producer Mica Levi. Despite her relative youth, Mica arrives as something of a Midas touched, Renaissance artist: equally at home writing and producing stunning, experimental pop with Matthew Herbert, as MCing with friends in various grime collectives and balancing this with her day time tutorage at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she’s studying composition.

The Invisible are Dave Okumu (formerly of Jade Fox), Tom Herbert (Polar Bear/Acoustic Ladyland) and Leo Taylor (Gramme/Zongamin).
Having started as a solo project for Dave, the three friends have crafted a piece of ethereal music, wide-ranging in its influences; giving a distinct nod to Sonic Youth and Radiohead in their guitar experimentation. There are rhythmic, African elements borrowed from Talking Heads; harmonic influences from Queens of the Stone Age, whilst classical and medieval church music and even Prince get a wink and a smile in the mix.

As usual the Broad Casting night will be recorded especially for Red Bull Music Academy Radio - a snug fit amongst an archive of music from the most iconoclastic DJs & musicians of our time
